The One Essential Emergency Item Every Car Needs

According to a recent article in USA Today, many vehicles being sold from American car lots - especially smaller and economical models - are leaving without something you definitely should have at all times.

Without your awareness, car makers are leaving the spare tire out of the sale.

But why?

In an effort to cut costs and reduce vehicle weight - thereby increasing fuel efficiency - vehicle manufacturers are opting to leave the spare out of the deal, and allow the customer to buy it if they choose. But that doesn't mean car salesman are sharing, or even know, this crucial piece of information at the time of the sale.

Unfortunately, since many people don't seek out their spare until an emergency, they are unaware of this very important omission, until they need it.

So what should you do right now?

First, read your manual and find out just where your spare tire SHOULD be located. Check and see if you have one, or it's less exciting little brother, the doughnut.

If you don't have either, make sure to take the time to get one properly sized for your vehicle before disaster strikes.
