How to Select Your Next Tires

There is a lot to consider when selecting tires for your vehicle. Beyond the size and the variety (radial, snow, etc.), it's important to take into account the various ratings on tires that you are considering purchasing.

According to Edmunds.com, the most important considerations are:

1. Tread Life - How long are these tires guaranteed to survive under normal circumstances, and wear and tear?

2. Wet Weather Requirements - Certain areas of the country require more attention to this detail than others. But obviously, if you live in a climate boasting wetter conditions, it would be in your best interest to consider tires geared for those conditions.

3. Speed Rating - Were you aware tires have a speed rating? When considering this, factor in what you typically drive, and not just the actual speed limit!

4. Ride Quality - a "low pro" may look great, and ride smoothly, but won't cope well with potholes and poorly-maintained roadways. Consider your lifestyle and region before deciding what works best for you.

5. Noise - You might not have realized, but tread design will affect the noise level of your drive.
