Summer Safety Tips: Cars and Kids

Nothing is more important than your child's safety, especially with summer around the corner. This season can be a carefree time for all, but danger lurks in the most unexpected places, just like your car. www.safercar.gov tells all when it comes to vehicle heat safety for your kids this summer.

Look Twice Before You Lock: A car can heat up 20 degrees or more when left out in the sun. Leaving a child in a locked car is dangerous, be sure to keep your children out of the car when it is unattended. Even when the weather is in the 60's, your car can heat up to 110 degrees. On top of that, heat stroke can occur when it is only 57 degrees outside! To avoid the death of a child, misdemeanor or felony charges, and fines, try these tips to keep your car safe from the heat this summer.

  1. Do NOT leave your child unattended in the car.

  2. Don't let your children play near the car alone. The car is not a plaything!

  3. Always look in the car before locking it.

Consider these tips from www.safercar.gov this summer to ensure the safety of your family.
