Pre-Holiday Road Trip Checklist

The Fourth of July is almost here! You're ready to pack up the family and head out to your favorite road trip destinations, but is your car ready? Be sure to check out your vehicle before you head out on the road.

With long trips, even the tiniest slip up can be catastrophic. Take your vehicle in to be inspected for any problems. Have the mechanic check your brakes and suspension first. Ask for a "maintenance package." This will include an oil change, inspection, and tire rotation. If you notice any funny noises coming from your engine, or if your struts start leaking oil, have the mechanic take a look at it. If the car pulls to one side while driving, you'll want to get your wheel alignment checked.

Once your car has a clean bill of health, make sure your GPS (Global Positioning System) is functioning properly. A broken GPS could mean that you'll be lost in unfamiliar territory. You might want to consider replacing your windshield wiper blades or having some extra bulbs for your head and brake lights handy. Last, but not least, make sure your air conditioning is in working order! It is July afterall.

Your checklist is now complete! Now that your car is in working order, you can head out on the open road and enjoy your holiday weekend.
