Clean Up! Organizing Your Car

Newspapers, coffee cups, your lunch from yesterday, your car is full of trash. It's time to get organized! Lifehacker.com shares a few tips on how to organize that car of yours and make it way less embarassing to drive people.

First, take two trash bags. In one bag place all trash and clutter that you want gone from your car. This could include fast food bags, gum wrappers, beverage carriers, etc. In the second bag, place all the things you want to keep in your car, but simply need removed so that you can thoroughly clean your interior. Next you'll want to dust your dashboard and clean your seats. You can simply use a water extraction carpet cleaner for your upholstery.

We all understand that trash happens. So for the future, make sure you have a designated container for your trash. You can make a handy trash can out of an old cereal container and a resealable bag that you can store in the back seat for such purposes.

When it comes to organizing, it's best to first tackle the glove box. Try using a simple file organizer to organize your registration, insurance papers, and emergency information. To keep your phone and wires out of the way, invest in a car mount. It will also keep your GPS navigation hands free, which is much safer than having your phone on your lap. To keep small things handy and in order, try a visor organizer. They keep small things like pens and your sunglasses within arms reach without cluttering your center console.

These are just a few tips and tricks to keep your car organized and trash free. Give them a shot! You just might be surprised.
