The Year Without a Summer: 1816
We've had some unusual weather this year, from summer tempetures in the winter to April showers lasting all month long and into May. If you thought our weather was strange, you won't believe what the people in 1816 experienced globally. With snow in June and July in New England and no rain during the monsoon season in India, the effects were catastrophic. The eruption of Mount Tambora in Indonesia (then known as the Dutch East Indies) in April of 1815 is purported to be the cause of these phenomenons. See more on this interesting history here.
