On April 3, 1882, Jesse James was murdered. As one of America's most famous criminals, many sources glamorized the Jesse James and his gang as Robin Hoods driven to crime by unethical landowners and bankers. In reality, they were ruthless killers who stole only for themselves. For 16 years, Jesse and his cohorts terrorized the Midwest committing robberies and murders.
