Precautions to Be Taken While Using Suspended Personnel Platforms

When a high-rise building is under construction, then for external work of the building, such as plastering and painting. There should be a way, so that labors can reach, to the point where work is to be carried out. One way is to create a platform by bamboos; another way is to use building gondola. Gondola is also called a rope suspended platform, and is used for jobs at heights, such as external wall plastering, installing glass facades and paintings. In recent years, use of gondolas have tremendously increased, as there are more high-rise buildings constructed, and big paint manufacturing companies are also interested in these rope suspended platforms.

Here are few advantages of gondolas, such as, safety features can be added to gondolas to work at heights. Secondly, it is easy to install and dismantle, or move from one site to other site. Thirdly, it requires only 1-2 days for installing gondola and also, only 2-3 workers are sufficient for installation. Apart from this, suspended platform gondola can be used up to a height of 200 meters, with advanced safety features. These can be used for a longer time and have good return value. Gondolas are easy to repair and have low maintenance cost, and require very less space for storage.

Suspended personnel platform is use in large projects, specially, multi-storied buildings. But there are few precautions which should be taken while using suspended personnel platform. Before using it, general inspection of the platform should be done and check for the proper fittings of the parts. It should be confirmed that rope is routed through pulleys at the walkthrough stirrup. Quick pins that are used should be properly placed and should be locked. Hoist, which is used should fit with end stirrup and the walk-through stirrup, and properly aligned with brackets. Use of guard rails is must and rail height must be lesser than 42 meters above the platform deck. Before using suspended platforms, it should be confirmed by all means that these are approved by safety specialists.
