Dos And Don’ts Of Operating A Suspended Cradle

In order to operate the cradle safely, there are certain dos and don'ts that each and every construction worker should always remember and follow.

Dos:

• Make sure that the roof beams and the attachments of the suspended platform are secure.

• Before going up each time or prior to every shift, check the equipment.

• See to it that the structure of the roof or the parapet wall is solid enough to support outriggers or cornice hooks.

• Secure all the ropes at the end of the anchor.

• Check whether there are any damaged ropes before operating the construction cradle.

• Secure the hand tools tightly on the platform.

• Assess the platform when it's lifted, fully loaded with technicians, gear, and equipment.

Don'ts:

• Don't use the fall arrest system or the lifeline to raise or lower the tools or materials.

• Never change, substitute, or remove any of the platform parts.

• If you join suspended platforms that are not created for the same usage, then it will lead to an accident, so don't do that.

• Don't let electric cables or connections lie in an area where water gets collected.

• Working close to exposed electrical circuits or equipment will be dangerous.

• Don't exceed the total weight limit of the platform.

• Don't even think of entering or leaving the platform from any other point other than the ground level.
