With winter right around the corner, parents of young children are beginning to think about dressing their babies and toddlers for the colder weather. Depending on where you live, this can mean anything from stocking up on layers of warm clothes to simply picking up a light sweater. No matter how cold it gets where you reside, keeping the baby warm during the winter is important.
Below are some tips for all parents to help them dress their little ones for comfort to keep them warm at all times:
Buy Breathable Fabrics
Breathable fabrics are important when dressing babies in layers. You want your baby's skin to be covered, but you also need to ensure proper airflow to keep them comfortable. Cotton infant clothes by Oeuf are an excellent choice for breathable baby clothes, but no matter which brands you choose, try to look for cotton or other breathable fabrics. Cotton infant clothes by Oeuf can be found online in a variety of styles, colors, and sizes, but you may be able to find cotton baby clothing locally as well.
Keep Your Baby's Head, Hands and Feet Covered
You can also keep your baby warm by making sure their head, hands, and feet are covered. Babies have less surface area compared to adults, and their sensitive skin is more prone to getting cold in climates that adults may consider comfortable. If you're going to have your baby outside in the cold at all, consider socks, baby mittens, and a cotton-knit hat. Swaddling is also an excellent idea to avoid having your baby accidentally pull off clothing accessories.
Limit Outdoor Exposure
While you want to keep your baby indoors and away from the cold as much as possible during those early days, there are likely going to come times when you have to take your baby out in the cold. When these moments come along, try to plan around your baby to limit exposure. In most cases, having your little one out in the cold for short periods of time isn't going to hurt, but try to keep exposure times limited to short intervals to avoid the potential for discomfort.
