3 Most Common Plumbing Issues

A working plumbing system is crucial for indoor comfort, but the health of your plumbing system can also play a role in your personal health. To keep your plumbing and bodily health in top condition, watch out for the following three most common types of plumbing issues:

1. Drain Clogs

Drain clogs are perhaps the most common plumbing issue faced by homeowners and business owners. Clogs can develop suddenly when a drain line gets overloaded, but they can also build slowly over time. The main causes of drain clogs tend to be kitchen waste and grease as well as paper products, but some clogs are caused by things like root intrusion deep underground.

To remove a drain clog, a simple plunger might do, but for serious clogs, a plumber may need to use hydro-jetting and other trenchless plumbing equipment. This kind of clog treatment can get expensive, so it's a good idea to see if plumber financing is available before calling a plumbing company.

2. Leaks

Leaks are another common plumbing issue in both residential and commercial plumbing systems. A leak can develop slowly as joints in the connections that hold your pipes together come loose. Pressure inside your water lines and drains can contribute to leaks, and this pressure may cause fixtures to develop leaks.

The solution to plumbing leaks may only require tightening a connection, but if a pressure problem exists somewhere in your plumbing system, a more thorough investigation is usually warranted. Like with drain clogs, serious leaks can be expensive and may result in thousands of dollars in costs to fix. If you don't have that kind of money sitting around, plumber financing may once again be a good option.

3. Water Heater Problems

Water heaters are great for convenience, but when they go bad, you may be left out in the cold. Water heaters can develop problems due to heating elements burning out, electrical issues or damage to tanks. Some of these problems can be fixed within minutes by replacing a bad heating element or reconnecting a wire. Other water heater problems, however, may require extensive repair or even a full replacement of your water heater unit.

Financing may be available for water heater replacement from your plumbing company, but you're also encouraged to check with water heater manufacturers. Some manufacturers may offer discounts in the form of rebates or other incentives when you purchase select models.
