BOTOX® & Dermal Fillers
Botox® Cosmetic
Botox® cosmetic is a simple, nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years of age. It is the only treatment of its type approved by the food and drug administration (FDA). One 10-minute treatment—a few tiny injections—and within days there's a noticeable improvement in moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, which can last up to 4 months. Results may vary.
Botox® cosmetic is a purified protein produced by the clostridium botulinum bacterium, which reduces the activity of the muscles that cause those frown lines between the brows to form over time. the anatomy of the wrinkle the lines that appear between your brows (glabellar lines) actually result from muscle movement and the passage of time. You may have heard the expression "wearing your emotions on your sleeve," but in reality you wear them on your face. If you're angry or annoyed, for example, you knit your brows together. Underneath your skin, your facial muscles contract, cause a pleating of the overlying skin, and then, as anyone can see, you're frowning. After years of crinkling and wrinkling, those glabellar lines start to linger longer and can become more pronounced.
How does it work?
When you frown, smile, squint, or use any other common facial expression, your muscles contract under your skin. when you do it over and over, the result can be wrinkles. when you have botox injected directly into these tiny muscles, it blocks nerve impulses to the injection area and prevents further muscle contractions. botox relaxes the muscle and smoothes the skin over that muscle group. In some cases, with repeated treatments, the wrinkles can actually disappear. The effects of botox are confined to the treatment sites. it does not travel throughout your body.
What does the procedure entail? The treatment takes about 20 - 30 minutes using several tiny injections and you will begin to see results in 5 - 7 days.
What are the results? Botox smoothes out horizontal forehead lines, frown lines, frown lines between your eyebrows, crow’s feet around your eyes, we can even give your upper lip a little lift.
Dermal Fillers
How JUVÉDERM™ Works
Juvéderm™ injectable gel dermal filler is a nonsurgical, physician-administered treatment. Your healthcare professional eases Juvéderm™ under the skin using a fine needle to augment, or fill, the soft tissue of the dermis—the dense inner layer of skin beneath the epidermis—to add volume and diminish wrinkles and folds. Juvéderm™ injectable gel is great for your "laugh lines," "smile lines" or "parentheses" (nasolabial folds), or "marionette lines" (oral commissures).
Juvéderm™ is a "next-generation" filler. It is made from hyaluronic acid — a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to hydrate and add volume. Hyaluronic acid may diminish with age, contributing to the formation of wrinkles and folds. Juvéderm™ injectable gel works to correct this by restoring hyaluronic acid in your skin, helping to smooth wrinkles and folds.
Juvéderm™ has a unique manufacturing process that provides a high concentration of cross-linked hyaluronic acid for long-lasting results. It also creates a smooth consistency gel that flows easily into the skin during the injection process and provides a smooth, natural look and feel—so everyone will notice (but no one will know)! Only Juvéderm™ is so smooth—other hyaluronic acid fillers currently on the market are made of granular consistency gels.
Juvéderm™ is indicated for injection into the mid to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds (such as nasolabial folds).
If everyone's skin is different, how do you know how to treat my skin features?
We utilize different facial fillers, each specially designed for a different purpose and result. This includes smoothing out tiny lines, shaping facial contours, and sculpting lips to perfection. Your practitioner will choose the product that will optimize the results you are looking for.
Depending on the results you wish to achieve, the initial treatment is best maintained with occasional follow-up treatments.
