IPL & Photorejuvenation "Photo Facial"

A treatment using intense pulsed light (IPL) that improves visible signs of aging and sun damage, including uneven skin tone, brown spots, fine lights and wrinkles.  This treatment is recommended fro the face, hands, shoulders and décolleté.

IPL treats conditions such as: facial telangiectasias, flushing and redness, rosacea, poikiloderma (red neck), age spots and liver spots, sun damaged skin, pigmented lesions

How does it work?

The intense pulsed light emits wavelengths that are absorbed by vascular and pigmented lesions in multiple levels of the skin. When the broad band light is absorbed by melanin (brown spots) and hemoglobin (veins/red spots), the lesions are gently heated and destroyed.

How long does the procedure take?

It depends on the area being treated. It typically takes 25-30 minutes to treat the entire face. Make up may be applied following treatment.

Is it painful?

You will experience a slight sensation as the pulses of therapeutic light are passed over your skin. The sensation is very mild and easily tolerated. Topical creams are provided for additional comfort.

How many treatments are required?

A series of four treatments is required for optimum results. Each treatment takes less than one hour to perform. Treatments are scheduled once a month. Maintenance treatments are required every 6-12 months to maintain result.

Are there any side effects?

The vascular and pigmented lesions will be darker in appearance for 5-7 days. This procedure works well when followed with a microdermabrasion.
